The purpose of Youth Ministry at this church is to lead teenagers into a meaningful relationship with Christ. This is done through building relationships with the teens, offering a healthy environment in which to explore their faith, and service opportunities to share their gifts and talents. All teenagers of any background are invited and welcome to join our Youth Groups. Your continued prayers are appreciated as the Lord moves through the lives of these amazing teenagers!
Programming for the teenagers at The Presbyterian Church is offered for 4th-12th
grade. The grade groupings are:
4th-8th grades – Club J(esus)
9th-12th grades – Senior High Youth Group
All youth meet together on Wednesday nights from 6-8 p.m. We have dinner together, play games, and split up for Bible Study. Most of the time all of this happens up in the Rock and the Pebble, located on the second floor of the Church School wing. Throughout the year, we also participate with the adults in The Open Door – we eat dinner together in Fellowship Hall and have a short worship service in the Chapel, then head upstairs for regular Youth Group.
Every other year, 7th and 8th graders also have the opportunity to join the Youth Confirmation Commissioning (Y.C.C.) Class. This meets every Sunday from September to June and also has out-of-class activities, including retreats and service projects. At the end of the year, these youth can then join the church.
Each group also participates in big events each month. We usually offer a service project (such as working with children, the Food Bank, visiting a nursing home) as well as a fellowship activity (such as bowling, holiday parties, movies). Weekend-long retreats are offered for Junior High (winter) and Senior High (fall and spring). The Senior High also goes on a Mission Trip in the summer. Our past trips have been to Pennsylvania, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Canada. For more information on all our events, see our newsletter and calendar or e-mail the church office: firstname.lastname@example.org.
YMTA (Youth Ministry Team Approach):
The Youth Task Force meets monthly to discuss upcoming events, organize volunteers, and pray for the ministry. The Task Force is made up of a group of wonderful adults who have a heart for youth: Lori Wadding and Kevin Berrigan. If you would like to join YMTA, please click here to contact us.
